- 3 cups water
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1 1/4 tsp salt
- 2-3 tomatoes depending on size
- 4 green chillies
- 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste

Main
- wash dal thoroughly
- add water
- add turmeric
- add salt
- put the cooker on a high flame stove
- add tomatoes, chillies and ginger garlic paste
- put the lid and count 3 whistles
- stir the dal
- add the popu

- add 4 tsp cooking oil
- add avaalu and jilkara
- add hing
- add dried chillies
- add curry leaves
