1) Soak 1 cup of whole black urad dal overnight
2) Next day, drain the soaking water and put the lentils into a rice cooker
3) Add 3 cups water in the rice cooker
4) Add the cinnamon, cardamom, black cardamom, bay leaf, green chili, chili powder, salt, ginger (cut into large pieces) and put for 4-6 whistles.
Blend the 2 tomatoes into a puree and keep aside.
5) In a separate pan, melt butter and add a bit of oil so that the butter doesn't burn/brown.
6) Add ginger garlic paste into the butter and saute till raw smell goes away
7) Add red chili powder and saute till foaming
8) Add the tomato puree into the pan and (IMPORTANT) saute till the puree becomes thick and oil floats
9) Add the pressure cooker dal into this pan with the tomato base and add a bit of water.
10) Add fenugreek leaves (2 tbsp) and boil for 15-20min, keep mixing.
11) Turn off stove, add a bit of heavy cream, cilantro and serve
