1) Wash the rice thoroughly
2) Cook the basmati rice separately (either electric rice cooker with 1:1.5 water or on stovetop) - Don't overcook and let rice become mushy.
3) In a frying pan, add enough cooking oil for rice, once the oil shimmers, add cumin seeds (base it off the rice quantity - maybe 2 tbsp for 1 cup uncooked rice)
4) Let the cumin seeds roast (bubbly) but not burn
5) Add the cooked rice into the pan and season with salt before mixing
6) Stir fry the rice until the cumin seeds are equidistant to one another
7) turn off stove, sprinkle chopped cilantro and mix and serve
